TV Skills Fund

The Creative Skillset TV Skills Fund is the result of an agreement between UK broadcasters to invest in training for the freelance television workforce. The contributors are: BBCChannel 4 and Five.

Since it was set up in 2006, the TV Skills Fund (formerly the TV Freelancer Fund) has invested over £10 million in the industry through different funding programmes.

It funds training organisations to deliver courses and development activities that will benefit the television industry across the UK and respond to the needs of the industry in addressing skills gaps and shortages.

The TV Skills Fund is supporting training in:

Production Co-ordinator Training Programme

Launched in 2016, this fantastic new UK-wide training programme will train more than 560 new trainee production co-ordinators for the TV industry. Programmes will run over an 18 month period in London, Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff and Glasgow to help develop the next generation in TV production management.

Commissioner Programme

A special programme developed and funded by Creative Diversity Network and Creative Skillset to release new sources of creativity, and build the diversity of output across all genres of UK television.

Series Producer Programme

A unique and prestigious year-long programme is open to new or aspiring SPs who are experienced producers with a minimum of three years’ experience at Producer/Director-level in factual, features, specialist factual, factual entertainment and entertainment. The programme is now in its second successful year. 

Applications open for its third year on 20 November 2017. The deadline for applications is noon on Monday 8 January 2018. Find out more about the Series Producer Training Programme.
