New film Trainee Finder trainees start their induction
Creative Skillset Head of Film, the Oscar-winning producer Gareth Ellis-Unwin, welcomed the industry's future crew in his first visit to a Creative Skillset training initiative since his appointment.
At a two-day induction event at Leeds' Prime Studios, Ellis-Unwin offered words of advice to new trainees on the Trainee Finder programme who were selected from over 1,100 applicants to the industry-supported scheme. After induction activities led by industry experts such as Richard Knight (locations) Danny Gulliver (production), Melanie Lenihan (make-up) and David Worley (camera) the trainees will start their year of placements on a wide range of the UK's film productions.
I have taken up my role at Creative Skillset because I believe passionately about the importance of finding and supporting the next generation of film talent from every part of the UK. Trainee Finder is one of our flagship schemes for finding and supporting diverse new recruits and so I'm delighted to be paying a visit to the first induction course since I took up my post"
A second induction event for the film Trainee Finder trainees will take place at Three Mills Studios in London at the end of March. A separate cohort of TV drama trainees supported by the High End TV industry will also receive their induction to Trainee Finder later this month.
