National Occupational Standards: regional workshops

Creative Skillset invites employers and current practitioners in augmented/virtual reality (AR/VR) and camera departments to contribute to standards development at regional workshops.

Creative Skillset are currently reviewing the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for grips and AR/VR for the entertainment/media sector. NOS are statements of what someone needs ‘to do’ and ‘to know’ in order to perform a job role. These Standards are used to underpin Apprenticeships and help to guide the development of courses at all levels. They are also a useful resource for industry to support recruitment and management activities across the UK.

To ensure we develop NOS that reflect current practice we are inviting employers and current practitioners to attend the following regional workshops:

16 October: Cardiff

Fiction Factory, 10 Mount Stuart Square, Cardiff, CF10 5EE

Grips: 10.30 - 13.00

AR/VR: 14.00 - 16.30

14 November: Belfast

Northern Ireland Screen, Alfred House, 21 Alfred St, Belfast, BT2 8ED

Grips: 10.00 - 12.30

AR/VR: 13.30 - 16.00

15 November: Glasgow

City of Glasgow College, 190 Cathedral St, Glasgow, G4 0RF

Grips: 10.00 - 12.30

AR/VR: 12.30 - 14.30

There will also be further opportunities to get involved in the NOS review in England, as well as an online consultation. We encourage employers and practitioners to see the value in getting these Standards right and developing the new Apprenticeship offer that the screen-based industries need.

If you would like to book a place at any of the workshops, or be involved in future activity, please contact Naomi Bonner by 13 November 2017.
