Glasgow TV Production Co-ordinators Information Event
On Tuesday 12 September, the BBC Academy and Creative Skillset hosted an information event in Glasgow for the upcoming Production Co-ordinator Training Programme.
A room full of very eager prospective applicants to the programme gathered in the impressive atrium of BBC Scotland to hear from our expert panel about what the production co-ordinator role entails and how to make a successful career in TV production.
Our panel comprised (l to r): Sharon Ward-McNab, BBC Academy; Fiona Lawrie, Talent Manager; Naomi Buchanan, Production Co-ordinator; Emma Peil, Production Manager; Elle Merriman, Production Assistant; Lynsey McIntosh, Production Co-ordinator
Some key quotes from the evening:
"You have to love a challenge"
"I find solving problems and organising people more rewarding than being on set"
"You never get tired of seeing your name come up in the credits."
Have ears like a bat. There’ll be a researcher and producer across the room planning to abseil down a building. You need to listen and work out a realistic way of doing it! Fiona Lawrie
