Craft, technical & production bursaries

What are the bursaries?

These bursaries are training grants of up to £800 from the Film Skills Investment Fund for film freelancers in eligible departments to spend towards the costs of training. For 2018 we have expanded the eligible roles to meet key skills priorities in:

  • Art
  • Camera
  • Construction (NEW)
  • Costume
  • Electrical (NEW)
  • Hair and make-up
  • Post production
  • Production office
  • Health and Safety

The key skills priorities are a result of research and consultation with the industry on short and long-term skills gaps. Please read the guidelines (see link below) to find out the key skills priority roles within these departments that are currently eligible for bursaries.

Who can apply?

You can apply if you are a film professional working full time as a freelancer in an eligible craft, technical or production department in feature films or documentaries. You must have at least two recent feature film credits above trainee level to apply. Please see the guidelines for full details.

How to apply

Read the guidelines to find out more about what you can apply for and how to submit your application.

It is vital that you read the guidelines before starting your application. Your application will not be successful if you do not demonstrate that you meet all the criteria.

This is a rolling bursary scheme. The deadline for applications is 31 March 2019. However, there is a high demand for these bursaries. Once the total fund has been awarded, the programme will close, which may be before this date.

Once you have read the guidelines you can apply here.
