Funding for film training providers

Creative Skillset are seeking industry recognised training providers to design, manage, market, recruit and deliver inclusive training programmes for the film industry as detailed below.

These Funds invest in the skills and training of the UK film industry to secure its growth and sustainability, ensuring UK film remains world-class.

To apply, please first review the tender guidelines in each section below. You will also need our Application Guide for Organisations and our Project and Budget Report template. The closing date for all applications for this funding is 2pm on Friday 28 September. Successful applications will be announced by Monday 15 October. Funded programmes must be delivered by Friday 8 March 2019.

New Entrants Training Programme

We are looking for training providers to design, manage, market, recruit and deliver a training programme for new entrants to the film industry which seeks to:

  •  Increase diversity and inclusivity among new entrants
  •  Improve longer-term sustainability and partnerships

Training must be available UK-wide via regionally based training and/or travel bursaries. 

Training providers and organisations that have a proven record of delivering industry standard, successful training projects can apply. Providers will need to demonstrate their understanding of film training requirements and clearly demonstrate that they have the resources to track the career progression of participants beyond the life of the training programme.

Delivery, final reporting and evaluation of the programme must be completed by Friday 8 March 2019.

Return to Work Programme in Film

We are looking for training providers that will design, manage, market, recruit and deliver a training programme for film professionals who wish to return to work after a career break or those transferring from another sector or industry. Training must be related to one of the following priority areas:

  •  Art directing
  •  Assistant directors (1st & 2nd ADs)
  •  Concept and storyboard
  •  Costume design 
  •  Draughting
  •  Location managers
  •  Production coordinators
  •  VFX artist

The programme should include an introductory refresher and placements with film productions. Programmes that run outside of Greater London and that address the industry requirements to improve diversity will be prioritised.

Training providers and organisations that have a proven record of delivering industry standard, successful training projects can apply. Providers will need to demonstrate their understanding of film training requirements and clearly demonstrate that they have the resources to track the career progression of participants beyond the life of the training programme.

Delivery, final reporting and evaluation of the programme must be completed by Friday 8 March 2019.

Training for Feature Film Professionals

We are looking for training providers that will design, manage, market, recruit and deliver a training programme for film industry professionals to step up to the next level of their career. Training must address at least one of the following priority areas:

  •  Art directing
  •  Assistant directors (1st & 2nd ADs)
  •  Camera
  •  Concept and storyboard
  •  Costume design
  •  Draughting
  •  Gaffers
  •  Hair and wig skills for make-up artists
  •  Location managers
  •  Production coordinators
  •  Scenic painting
  •  VFX artist

Programmes that run outside of Greater London and that address the industry requirements to improve diversity will be prioritised.

Training providers and organisations that have a proven record of delivering industry standard, successful training projects can apply. Providers will need to demonstrate their understanding of film training requirements and clearly demonstrate that they have the resources to track the career progression of participants beyond the life of the training programme.

Delivery, final reporting and evaluation of the programme must be completed by Friday 8 March 2019.

Film Management & Executive Development

We are looking for training providers that will design, manage, market, recruit and deliver a training programme that supports mid to senior production and other film business professionals (with a minimum of five to seven years of continuous experience including at least two feature film credits).

We will consider continuation, evolution or variations of programmes that have supported aspiring managers and leaders in the film business in the last two years. We would also welcome new initiatives in this area.

Programmes that run outside of Greater London and that address the industry requirements to improve diversity will be prioritised.

Training providers and organisations that have a proven record of delivering industry standard, successful training projects can apply. Providers will need to demonstrate their understanding of film training requirements and clearly demonstrate that they have the resources to track the career progression of participants beyond the life of the training programme.

Delivery, final reporting and evaluation of the programme must be completed by Friday 8 March 2019.
