Sound Women on Air

Creative Skillset has worked with Sound Women to create a snapshot of female radio presenter airtime.

The study looked at the output of 30 stations across the UK in the week beginning 31 March 2013 counting presenter and co-presenter airtime hours.

Key findings of this research include:

  • Only one in five solo radio presenters is female.
  • 39% of presenting teams are all male while only 4% are all female.
  • Solo women account for only 12% of drive time presenters and 13% of breakfast presenters.
  • There are no examples of two women presenting together for either breakfast or drive time.
